 Notice of Public Hearings and Request for Written Comments Hearings: July 10 and 11, 2000 Deadline for Notice of Intent to Speak: June 28, 2000 Basis for hearings: The Panel on Audit Effectiveness will hold public hearings to obtain the views of interested individuals and organizations about the recommendations of the Panel in this Exposure Draft. Panel members will conduct the hearings. An individual or organization desiring to speak must notify the Panel in writing or by telephone by June 28, 2000. Speakers will be notified of the designated time for their presentations by June 30, 2000. Oral presentation materials: Although not a requirement, the Panel requests that speakers submit a position paper, presentation outline, or comment letter addressing the recommendations in the Exposure Draft by July 7, 2000. All submissions should be addressed to David B. Pearson, director of the Panel staff, at the address listed below. Format of the hearings: Speakers will be allotted up to 15 minutes for their presentations to be followed by a period for answering questions from members of the Panel. Speakers should use their allotted time to provide information in addition to that in any written comments they have submitted. Observers: Observers are welcome at the public hearings, but may not participate in the discussions. Observers are encouraged to submit written comments.
Written comments: Participation at the public hearings is not a prerequisite to submitting comments on this project. Written comments are given the same consideration as public hearing testimony. Comments or suggestions on any aspect of this Exposure Draft will be appreciated. To facilitate the Panelšs consideration of responses, comments should refer to specific paragraphs and include supporting reasons for the comments or suggestions. Any individual or organization may send written comments to David B. Pearson, director of the Panel staff, at the address listed below by July 21, 2000. Public files: A transcript of the public hearings and copies of written submissions on this Exposure Draft will be available for inspection at the offices of the Public Oversight Board on or about July 28, 2000. Availability of Exposure Draft: This Exposure Draft is available on the web site of the Panel at www.pobauditpanel.org. Individuals or organizations may request one printed copy until July 21, 2000 by writing to the Panel at the address listed below.
